This is a different way to do Fediverse:
Vocata β Vocabulary-Agnostic Transport AgentVocata implements an ActivityPub server, and nothing more. It offers an interface for clients to send and receive content to and from the Fediverse with an identity, and handles federation with other servers on behalf of users.
So if I understand this, Vocata is something like an e-mail server, but for ActivityPub. It's assumed that each user will have their own ActivityPub client, analogous to an e-mail program or a webmail interface, which handles all presentation.
Well, that's interesting, but beyond me. What I really liked, though, is this very concise explanation of just what the heck ActivityPub is doing:
